Brian + Cassandra / “Feature Film” / Chino Hill’s Wedding CInematography

Brian + Cassie poster FIanl

Q & A with
Brian + Cassandra

Q. What’s the story of your relationship?
We met in high school through friends and we dated for about 9 months. We hadn’t seen each other for 9 years then reconnected on the internet. We dated for 14 months the second time around before we became engaged. We were engaged for 11 months before the wedding.

Q. What was the story of the proposal?
For our one year anniversiary, I surprised Cassie with a trip to the University of Arizona (where she went to undergrad) and tickets to a U of A basketball game. Brian had arranged a personal tour of the McKale Center by one of the associate coaches. The original plan was to propose at midcourt. Unfortunately, the basketball team was practicing during the tour so the plans were ruined. After the tour we found a nice park bench on campus where we discussed our college experiences. At that time Brian got down on his knee and said that he never wanted to miss another moment.

Q. What’s your favorite thing and the funniest thing about being married?
Having someone to share your bad days with. Learning who’s side of the bed is who’s!

Q. What are some of your favorite memories from your wedding day?
Cassie walking down the aisle, cutting the cake, talking to friends and family.

Q. What is one thing you’d tell a couple to make sure they capture on video?
The first dance as a married couple because for most guys it’s the only one they’ll ever want to do again!

Q. What piece of advice would you tell a couple planning their wedding?
To enjoy the moment, take a deep breath and make sure its your special day.

Q. Share with future newlyweds some marriage wisdom?
Communicate and don’t sweat the small stuff!

Ricky + Sonal / Feature Film / Helicopter / Terranea Resort / Palos Verdes Wedding Cinematography

INCREDIBLE!! That’s really the only way to explain this top notch Hindu Indian Wedding that took place at the beautiful Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes California!

The Monday before the big day I was thinking about Ricky + Sonal and their upcoming wedding at the Terranea Resort and it was then that two words popped into my head. “Helicopter Shots!!” At first I thought to myself, nah, no way, but then I thought, hey, why not! Helicopter shots of Terranea and the beautiful Pacific Ocean would most certainly be an Impressive Creation! Plus, Ricky had expressed to me his love for the ocean so I thought this would be an amazing way to complement his passions and his vision for his wedding.

This wedding was no small feat! I had the privilege to work along side of Amy Patel of Planning Elegance who was an absolute joy to work with (and very calm by the way). I don’t know how you did it!! Jennifer Hyman, Leslie McCammon and Tracey Koven from Terranea Resort were extremely helpful and very accommodating throughout the entire planning process and the day of the wedding. I got a little nervous when the jib was a little bigger and badder then we all anticipated but the staff was great! Thanks Leslie!!

All the stages, linens, florals, floor plans and event design were coordinated by The Amazing Shawna Yamamoto. DUDE!! You rock Shawna! All day, we got to shoot along side of Michelle From Jim Kennedy Photography and the incredible lighting and set decor was done by Amber Yin at Amber Event Design.

Their wedding is also highlighted current eddition of Ceremony Magazine. Gorgeous!!!! Again, photography by Jim Kennedy Photographers!

Thuy + Michael // Same Day Edit // Fairmount Hotel // Newport Beach Wedding Cinematography

Thuy + Michael Totally Rock! These guys were super cool and a joy to work with. This Same Day Edit is a great example the couples involvement in the planning of their Same Day Edit! We met with Thuy and Michael and they had this song on their  laptop but they had no idea what it was so I thought, hummm, iPhone… There’s an app for that… So I busted out Shazam, and sure enough, within seconds, Shazam!! There was our song title. They couldn’t have chosen a better song for their SDE! It was a PERFECT fit!

Usually, it’s the Bride that get’s emotional during the ceremony and vows, but check out Michaels reaction as he see his gorgeous bride walking down the aisle!

John + Angela / Feature Film / Trump National Golf Course / Palos Verdes Wedding Videographers

I remember meeting Angela and her sweet mom at a bridal show years ago. Actually, I met them at like 5 bridal shows! Angela and her mom were bridal show junkies. I really love the entire process we go through with our couples. The initial meetings, talking through all their details and desires for their wedding, the filming, the editing, the tears, the joys! We get to be a part of it all!  I still can’t believe that we get to be an intimate part of our couples wedding day. It really is an amazing job and responsibility we have.

John and Angelas wedding was super beautiful up at the Trump National Golf Course! They were such a high energy couple! If nothing else you got see John’s little fire fighter dance at 6:40 in the video. There is always a first for everything I guess! Here is a bit of Angela’s thoughts on Marriage!
Enjoy,
BP

Q & A with
John + Angela

Q. What’s the funniest thing about being married?
That he does almost all of the cooking and cleaning!!!

Q. What piece of advice would you tell a couple planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Something will most likely go wrong and there is nothing you can do about it. Enjoy everything else that is going right.

Q. What was the hardest part about planning a wedding?
All the small details that have to be done at the last minute such as seating charts, programs and name cards…

Q. In a few words, share with future newlyweds some marriage wisdom?
Go to bed mad! Some people just need some time to cool off and sleep it off so you don’t get in a knock down, drag out fight.

Q. What are some of your favorite memories from your wedding day?
Walking back down the aisle and seeing all of the smiling faces of our family and friends. Getting that first glance of the reception room and seeing all of the planning all come together. The garter toss where John came out in his turnout pants dancing like a stripper! Never getting off the dance floor.

Q. What was the story of the proposal?
It was Christmas time and we were working completely opposite schedules for work. We planned an “After Christmas” day to spend with each other and John planned massages and dinner at Trump National. As we took a walk around the golf course at sunset, John got down on knee and popped the question. Our whole families were watching from the restaurant and we all had a great celebration. Then we were off to a gondola ride under the stars.

Q. What’s your favorite thing about being married?
Having your best friend there to share everything with. The good times, the hard times and everything in between. It’s facing the world hand in hand an knowing we can get through anything as long as we have each other.

Kitty + Pack / Wedding Teaser & E Session

Q & A with
Kitty + Pack

Q. How did you guys meet?
I met him through my friend at a gay bar! Yeah you heard it “Gay Bar,”  hahaha I am lucky he is not gay.

Q. What was the story of the proposal?
It was Valentine’s Day 2009. We didn’t have any plan’s to go out, so I told him we should go to a spa retreat and he agreed. While I enjoyed my massage I heard someone say “anything to drink?” I thought that would be good so I nodded my head, but wait, the voice sounds so familiar. I got up and he said “coffee, tea, or me” with the ring in front of me. I was so happy. We were happy!

Q. What’s your favorite thing about being married?
Love :) We have the same goals in life, all the way down to smallest things and we always help each other out. He always make me laugh and makes life fun and interesting. She is good at using humor to cheer me up!

Q. Why did you choose to hire a cinematographer?
We designed to have a videographer on our big day because we knew that we would be missing from those frozen moments of the wedding and videography has given the opportunity to have created a memoir of our wedding, complete with all sights and sounds of that most important event in our lives, a memory which can be revisited for years to come!

E Session
Kitty + Pack

There is always a first time for anything right? Well, there was 3 things unique to Pack and Kittys wedding that we have never done before. 1) Kitty’s Bridal prep was at 4:45 in the morning! Whewww.. 2) We got to film in a Beautiful Monk Temple 3) Got to film an e-Session in Thai. Yep, no english at all. How did we do it you might ask? Well, Kitty and Pack came over to our studios and helped us organize it and make sure that what they were saying on film was OK with the world!

I have to say, during their reception, I was not quite sure what to expect as I felt that during their interviews they were pretty straight faced and calm but once the video started and their story came on, everyone was crazking up and really, really enjoying the video. Ahhh.. I guess these guys said all kinds of funny stuff, but being it was in Thai, how was I supposed to know what was going on..

Hope you enjoy!!

Mark + Diana / Feature Film / Orange County Wedding Cinematography

OK, Mark and Diana are crazy cool! What a blast! If I was ever at a high energy wedding it was Mark and Diana’s wedding. Everything from their HUGE bridal party (I think they had 10 to 12 on each side) to their Grand Entrance dance routine, from their HUGE limo, to their Amazing family and friends and one of the coolest speeches from a Father to a Daughter.

If you watch this video till the very end, you will see that Diana was barley able to speak her vows to her new hubby. It was quite an emotion moment. WOW!!We also did a Same Day Edit for them as well. You can see it here. I hope you enjoy their feature as we sure enjoyed putting it together.

Q & A with
Mark  + Diana

What piece of advice would you tell a couple planning their wedding?
Make sure to not argue over little things during the planning. It’s already stressful planning everything, so why make things worse.

How did you guys meet?
We met at a Club Rain in Vegas through mutual friends. We partied and danced night away. We never would have know that we would meet the love of our life in Vegas..

How long did you date before you got engaged and how long were you engaged before you got married?
We dated for 2.5 years before we were engaged. The planning took almost 1.5 years.

What was the story of the proposal?
I always told Diana I’d paint her something but she didn’t believe I had the talent. She was right, I don’t. But I have friends who are great artists. So I asked one of my friends to paint a cartoon picture of a guy on one knee proposing to a girl. So when I gave her the picture, it took her a minute or two to figure out that I was about to pop the question. Her reaction was classic!

Why did you choose to hire a videographer?
hey say that a picture can capture a thousand words, but a video can capture the exact words and the emotions tied with it.

What one detail are you glad the videographer captured?
It was great to capture moments where everyone at the party was dancing and having fun. Because we are so caught up with so many things that day, we don’t have the time to see everything that is going on aroound us.

THE HACIENDA ~ “FEATURE FILM” ~ GIANCARLO + ANGELA

Ahh… Another Beautiful Wedding and a super cool couple. Giancarlo was cracking e up all day with his Ball and Chain. Out off all the weddings we have filmed, I have never seen such a thing. Their Ceremony and reception was at a cool private venue called the Hacienda in Santa Ana. I like filming in places like this because there are sooooo many new things around every corner. Here is a little Q & A from Giancarlo and Angela.

Q & A with
Giancarlo + Angela

Q. What was the story of the proposal?
A. Gian and I were in Cancun for our 7th anniversary and it was the last day of our vacation. I came down with some severe bronchitis and was sick as a DOG so right before we were going to check out of the hotel, i was laying on the couch feeling miserably sick. Gian handed me the ring box and said “do you want it or not?” Gian INSISTS that i ruined all his big romantic plans for the proposal when i got sick, so he had to come up with plan b…. nice plan b huh?

Q. Why did you choose to hire a cinematographer?
A. We wanted to capture our day candidly and also be able to see everything that was going on. The day passes by so fast, it’s a blur. Now looking back on photos and the trailer, we get to see more of what was going on.

Q. What one piece of advice would you tell a couple planning their wedding?
A.  Do it the way that YOU BOTH want to do it. Don’t worry about the in-laws or picky friends,  your wedding is your day, don’t give in to others, or else you might have regrets!

Q. What’s your favorite thing about being married?
A. Gian says the tax return! LOL….

Ricky + Sonal / Terranea Resort / Reception Dance / Palos Verdes Wedding Videography

In the below video you will see a great example of the power of a Jib! Whats a Jib you might ask? Here is a definition I found on the web “ In cinematography, a jib is a boom device with a camera on one end, and a counterweight and camera controls on the other. A jib permits the camera to be moved vertically, horizontally, or a combination of the two at heights up to 100 feet!

A jib is useful for getting high shots, or shots which need to move a great distance horizontally or vertically. Jib are usually used on movie set to achieve shots that are not possible with hand held or tripod filming. Jib photography gives a perspective that the viewer is flying overhead in a smooth cinematic fashion.”

Enjoy,
BP

“E.Session” ~ Rehana + Mohammad / Long Beach Hyatt

From time to time our couples really want to share with their guests the story of their relationship. Rehana and Mo had a very unique yet sweet story how they met back in their high school years only to later reconnect via FaceBook many years later!

When we are at a wedding, I think for most of us we don’t even know the story of the newly married couple!  We hope you enjoy their wonderful “Engagement Session”!

Derrek + Charise ~ “Amazing Montage” ~ World Travel Theme!

I just love these montages as you (we) NEVER know exactly how they are going to turn out until they are done! We showed this video at Derrek and Charise’s wedding this past weekend at the Marriott Long Beach, California and everyone absolutely loved it!! One thing I really liked about their montage was that the first minute or so is a tribute to their parents! I love that. I hope my kids would do that for me!! :-)

These “Amazing Montages” are completely customizable to exactly what you want. You choose the theme and music and we do the rest. Derrek and Charise choose a “World Travel / Movie” theme for their montage and this is what we came up with.. We hope you enjoy!!

Palos Verdes Country Club ~ “Feature Film” ~ Jonathan + Lauren

From the Groom….

“Hey Brian!!

Thanks SOOO much for capturing this special day. This feature film EXCEEDS our expectations!! We really love the camera angles, the flow of the video with the music, vows, and especially love the 3D date of our wedding @ 2:54. Also we recognize the instrumental song played during the vows from a Broadway play we recently saw. What song is that? we really love it.

We APPROVE this video and feel free to upload it to your BLOG!!”"

Q & A with
Jonathan + Lauren

Q: How did you both meet?
A: Lauren and I met back in the 5th grade. I was actually the new kid on the block as I transfered to Canfield elementary. I remember that Lauren was one of the nicest girls in the class. We used to play basketball after school and I would beat her all the time! We then attended middle school together where we continued to be friends. I remember in the 8th grade I actually had a crush on her, but never told anyone. It only lasted for a few weeks and I thought to myself “how could I have this feeling for my good friend”. After those few weeks, I just disregarded those feelings and just looked at her as my good friend. We continued to keep in touch through High School and the beginning of our undergrad. I can remember it was during my sophomore spring semester in college where I prayed that God would show me who my wife would be. It wasn’t until that summer 2005 when I was home in Los Angeles doing an internship when our friendship grew closer. I realized that everything that I was looking for in a wife was right there in a friend that I have known for almost all my life. I laugh sometimes knowing that someone who was just a friend was actually the person God put in my life to be my wife. I am so excited that I will get a chance to spend the rest of my life with my best friend!!!

Q: What’s your favorite thing about being married?
A: We had a long distance relationship for a majority of our relationship due to us going to different colleges in different states. The best part about being married is having your best friend with you at all times.

Q: What detail are you glad the cinematographer captured?
A: Saying our Vows to each other!
